✈️ Air India Flight AI171 Crash – Ahmedabad, June 12, 2025
In a heartbreaking tragedy today, Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed just moments after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft lost control at around 600 feet altitude, issuing a mayday before plunging into the Meghani Nagar area, hitting a medical college hostel.
The crash claimed the lives of all 242 people on board, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Nationalities included 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, and others. Several people on the ground were also reportedly injured or killed due to debris and fire.
Rescue teams, firefighters, and police rushed to the scene, recovering over 200 bodies so far. The DGCA, along with Boeing and GE Aerospace teams, has launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash. Initial footage suggests a possible technical failure, with landing gear not retracted during takeoff.
Prime Minister Modi and world leaders, including UK PM Keir Starmer, expressed deep sorrow. This is the first-ever fatal crash of a Boeing 787, shaking both India and the global aviation industry.
Authorities continue recovery efforts as the nation mourns one of its darkest aviation disaster.
